Hope you're having a great day. My name is Pablo, and I will be attending GEMS this summer. I am super excited and grateful for this opportunity.

Nigel told me I should write you a few lines to tell you a bit about myself, so here it goes. I am a nurse by trade, and although it's a gratifying profession at times, it's never been my passion. Growing up, I was obsessed with basketball, training and playing constantly until I was 21, when unfortunately I injured my knee and couldn't compete anymore. I needed to find a new hobby, and my love of music took me to take up the guitar, and later, the piano.

I enjoyed learning to play songs, but it wasn’t until I started composing my own material 5 years ago that I found something that truly made me feel fulfilled.

During lockdown, I formed my one-man band, Anhedonia, with which I started writing both alternative rock songs and piano pieces with orchestral elements.

I love cinema, and to this day I buy DVDs of films that have moved me (my collection isn't a small one). Apart from the storyline of a film, I have always been fascinated by the ability of music to infuse emotions into images. So, last year I started studying Film Scoring with Iván Capillas, and it was through him that I discovered GEMS.

My motivation boils down to making music. Time flies when I start a project, and before I know it, eight hours have passed and it’s time to go to sleep. I always want to learn new things and improve, finding new ways to make music that conveys emotions. I know I started very late in music, but it’s something I’m really passionate about, and I put all my free time and effort into it. My job is emotionally draining and quite hard to keep up with, so the simple idea of being able to dedicate myself to music full-time would be a dream come true for me. I am really looking forward to getting to know you and learning a lot from you. I am sending you some of my songs as I have been advised to do so, I hope you enjoy them.
